Kerrigan, who grew up in Stoneham, Mass., playing hockey with brothers Michael and Mark, won her first figure skating medal at age nine.

At age 22, Kerrigan won a bronze medal in women’s figure skating in the 1992 Olympics in Albertville, France and later a silver medal in the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway. She won a gold medal at the 1993 U.S. Championships. After retiring from competitive figure skating, Kerrigan founded The Nancy Kerrigan Foundation to raise awareness for the vision impaired in honor of her mother, Brenda, who is legally blind. On September 9, 1995, Kerrigan married her agent Jerry Solomon, with whom she has three children: Matthew Eric, Brian and Nicole Elizabeth.
